December 2017 Newsletter

Don’s Did You Know?

On behalf of our entire team here at Clayton Sulphur Springs, I’d like to thank you for an amazing 2017, our 20th Anniversary, and thought we would share with you some highlights from the past year.

We will build over 1,330 homes this year for families all over Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Mexico, Mississippi, Kansas and Colorado.

Your sales efforts make it possible for us to have almost 300 team members and their families that you support.

We are now producing 29 homes every week, our highest production rate ever.

We worked over 520,000 man hours this year with NO lost time accidents and only 2 OSHA recordable incidents (#1 in Clayton Mfg)

ISO 14001 Certification continues and we will update that certification in 2018.

We donated over $15,000 to local charities through funding from our team. SS Work Camp and Hopkins County United Way are our lead organizations, while also supporting dozens of other charitable groups. We also work with our local schools on many different programs. All of the Texas manufacturing facilities combined to give $50,000 to the Salvation Army in support of Hurricane Harvey.

We continue to work towards becoming the employer of choice in North East Texas, by concentrating on our Team Member Experience. This includes initiative on pay programs, lowering Overtime and Turnover, more fun activities at work, and constantly finding ways to improve our work environment.

We look forward to a fantastic 2018 and wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Customer Care Spotlight

Net Promoter Score (NPS) is a management tool that can be used to gauge the loyalty of a company’s customers. NPS has been widely adopted, with more than two thirds of Fortune 1000 companies using the metric. NPS revolves around one simple question, “How likely is it that you would recommend a Clayton home to a friend or relative?”.

The goal of the tool is to measure which customers are Promoters or Raving Fans of our homes, and which are Passive and Detractors (unhappy). Raving fans will give a score of 9 or 10 on a 0-10 scale. These customers will continue to do business with our company, and will also tell as many people as possible about their great experience. Year to date, Clayton Sulphur Springs has 392 promoters of our product. That means 392 families are raving fans, and are completely satisfied with their home built in Sulphur Springs.

The DuraCraft difference has made it to Sulphur Springs! We have now officially transitioned our Ballister and Houston Plank cabinets to DuraCraft. Our Fossil Oak color will be transitioned with homes coming offline in January. The new colors will be Sunny Valley (Ballister), Charlynn (Houston Plank) and Emberwood (Fossil Oak). DuraCraft cabinets are constructed using materials with a heavy vinyl overlay that are much more durable than the paper product previously used. This durable material will prevent moisture from attacking the wood, and will also deter scratches and peeling that are common to wrapped cabinets. In addition to the durability, all homes with DuraCraft will now be built with a set of Pot/Pan Drawers. In most homes, these new drawers are included in the island and an island must be optioned to receive the drawers.

DuraCraft cabinetry will be a game changer for us by providing the highest value and best experience possible for our customers.

Christmas Ornament Competition

Each member of our team was challenged to make Christmas ornaments only using scrap material found in our facility. It was amazing to see what our team was able to create using materials that were destined for the recycling bin. There were three winners announced, and those winning entries are pictured. Congratulations to our first place winner Jonathan Alonso, who made a Clayton home using styrofoam and shingles, and even featured a large tree made from a metal strap. Our second place entry, built by Logan Pierce, was a wooden snowman that was riding a sled made from nails and a 2×4. And finally, our third place winner was “half” of a home, complete with Clayton Built shipping plastic built by Amanda Burkett.

Great job to all that participated…we work with some amazing and creative people!
